I need to double check a few things...but I'll take it!

Day 28, 29, 30--catching up!
Sorry...I did not forget but simply haven't had a chance to update. I did take my pictures a day though!
Day 28
This day started the weekend 'randomness'. I worked, and then had to go to the dentist for my temporary crown and was planning on coming home and relaxing the rest of the night. Not quite how it went down! I came home, ate some dinner, and started lounging...then my phone beeped. I had a text message from a guy I met on my birthday pub crawl. I hadn't hung out with him, and had only text messaged a few times and talked once.
This was our 'text' conversation:
E: Tainted Love is playing the house of blues tonight. (6:24)
Me: So fun!!
E: Let's see if they still have tix. Let's go.
Me: Really?
E: Why not?
Me: Dress 80's? I bet they are sold out but yeah...let's check!!!
E: If you're in, I'll call right now
Me: I'm in...
E: calling...
(at this point he calls and tells me that there are tickets available at the box office and he's going to drive down and get some)
E: put you're dancing shoes on (7:22)
Me: About to head down...(8:08)
So within that amount of time I went from sitting at home nursing my sore mouth to going to an 80's show at the House of Blues with a guy I've never hung out with before!
Day 29
While out on day 28, the guy I went to the show with invited me to go to Santa Ana with him the next day (day 29) to party at his friends house. Now, the significance of me being invited was because I went Chico, he went to Chico...and all the people at the party went to Chico (I just didn't know any of them!). So...our Friday night hang out continued...and on to Saturday...and off to Santa Ana. It turns out that the purpose of this party was that one of the guys was in town from Texas and this whole group of guys have a little 'caps' compitition...so the premise of the party was a Caps Tournament. These guys DO NOT joke around...it was a very serious event :-) This is E really really trying to win the round.
Day 30
Sunday...E and I finished hanging out...yes, since starting on Friday night and I finally got around to my 'relaxing' weekend. I felt like I ate, and drank, like CRAP all weekend so dinner was this! YUM!!!

Day 27--Caleb
I wish I could get videos to upload so I could should you this amazing little man walking!!! But...it never seems to work for me so a cute little pic of my Favorite Caleb will have to suffice for now!

Day 25--Patterns
I finally started working one of the baby blankets I'm making...this is my dreaded pattern. This particular blanket uses 7 skeins of yarn at the same time...so basically I get caught in a web of yarn every time I work on it...good thing I'm gonna love those babies!
ps...THANKS for the 87 visits in one day the other day! Wowzers...that'll keep me motivated to keep this up!!!

Day 24---Homes needed
Nancy says that this little guy is hilarious. He jumps around when he runs and has tons of personality.
Brothers...They are so cute and mellow!
Seriously...how cute is he?!?! He totally fell asleep in my arms on his back...
These adorable little pups need a home...they are 8-12 weeks old males. My friend, Nancy, rescued them from running around a very busy intersection over the weekend. She has since taken them to the vet, updated their shots, wormings etc...and is currently fostering them. They need a real home though. I got to see them today and they are super mellow and so cuddly! Adorable. They look like they could have a mixture of a lot dogs...dachshund, min pin, chihuahua, terrier, etc etc... Both are males...and currently are 5lbs...they are going to be small dogs...the vet thought 10-15ish lbs. Both dogs are being handled a lot by adults and kids and are around 2 older dogs.

Day 23--Sea of people--Carlsbad 1/2 Marathon
The first runners coming through...crazy crazy fast! I was standing at about mile 1.5/11.5, it as a there and back course.
The second set of runners...still crazy fast!
The masses about to start
Here comes wave 1
The beginning of the Sea of People
Pac-Man...this guy wore this the WHOLE race...and made the noises too...At least he was having fun!!!
There's Maria! There were so many people and the sun was directly in my eyes that I would have missed her if she hadn't seen and yelled to me! She's in all the blue with the white hat on! Go Maria go!
If you look closely...in front of the girl with the long ponytail...there is a guy in a Big Sur tech shirt...that's Charlie! He filled in for me seeing as I'm still way too sick (and wasn't feeling this race anyway!) It was his first 1/2 Marathon...and he didn't even train...just agreed to do it a few days ago! Go Charlie go!
There goes Brook...again he had to call to me so I saw him! Go Brook go!
Crazy people on their way back already...I was still on the other side of the street cheering for the people leaving! Seriously how are these peeps so fast?!?!
Pac Man on his way back...mile 11.5
Brook at mile 11.5...looking nice and happy still! 1/2 marathon #2 almost done!
Maria and Charlie at mile 11.5...still looking good! 1/2 marathon #1 (Charlie) and #8 (Maria) almost done! (Kinda random...but Maria and I did our first ever 1/2 together back in 2005...and haven't done any together since...but if I had done this one, as planned, it would have been both our our 8th ones!)
Off they go!

Day 22--Beach Grass
I have friends here this weekend for the Carlsbad Half Marathon. I was supposed to do it too, but had kind of lost motivation seeing I wasn't going for Triple Crown anymore, and then ended up WAY too sick to even consider it whether I wanted to or not. Anyway, I took my friends to one of my favorite breakfast places down here this morning. It really is amazing! The Beach Grass Cafe in Solona Beach...magnificent!

Day 21--Fire
Today I felt more human.
It was officially my first day back to work after being out sick all week. Luckily it was a training day, no kids, so I had one training from 8:15-11:15. I made it through with lots of water but by the end was looking pretty haggard.. We had to be back at my own school at 1:00...so yeah...we actually had an almost 2 hour lunch. While other teachers went out to eat or back to their classrooms to work on report cards, I went home. I had a super quick lunch (my first meal of the day) and then took about an hour nap on the couch. Man...I needed that! Back to work I went for about an hour and then I was able to head back home for the day. Not bad. I was able to relax tonight and wait for my friend Maria to get here with her friend Charlie.
Part of my relaxing, non-death feeling relaxing, included a fire. I wanted to do a fire so many times this last week but I was just too tired to ever actually do it. So finally tonight I did it! And I had fun playing with my camera settings while taking pictures of it!
Fish bowl setting
These two are using my color setting of just having the one color show up.

Day 20--Pain
"Pain is just weakness leaving your body"
I'm not sure where this quote came from but I always have liked seeing it when I'm doing a race. Well, I'm not doing the race this weekend. I had actually decided I didn't want to do it prior to being sick, which is a good thing because otherwise I'd be pretty bummed that I'm sick and out for the race afterall. So...today I made some signs for my friends that are doing the race. This is one of them. (For some reason it shows up in my files as right side up and no matter how I try to rotate it in the file it shows up here sideways...go figure?!!?)

Day 19--Kaiser Love
So I just switched to Kaiser at the new year. So far I have gone in to 'establish' myself with a doctor, get my bcp's refilled (which of course meant 'that' whole exam), get my tetanus (aka...whooping cough) shot and my flu shot. Then I went again today to see what the heck is up and why am I still sick?!?! First of all I loved getting my bcp's at my last appointment because what cost me $75 through Blue Shield only cost me $10!!! Holy smokes...bring on the savings!! Today I went in and seeing as it turns out I simply have a 'virus' they couldn't give me any 'meds' because antibiotics don't work on viruses...which is fine by me seeing as I'm allergic to a crapload of antibiotics...I steer clear whenever I can.
They were giving this away though...for FREE!!!
Not too shabby!! I was told I can't take the decongestant though...for some reason my pulse was REALLY high...even after they took it 5 times. Last week it was 79...today 124!! So...I guess decongestant tends to make it go higher so none for me...and I have to go back on Friday to have it rechecked. Hopefully it's just something to do with my body fighting off the virus...

Day 18---Concerned Dog??
Well, I was home sick again today...and I STILL have a fever. I'm heading to the doctor tomorrow to see what is up. I'm worried I could now have Bronchitis or possibly even Pneumonia (thanks Mom for putting that fear in my head!). In the past when I've been sick it seems like my dogs can tell. Katy gets more snuggly and reverts back to her puppy snuggle where she liked to snuggle on my throat (yeah...fun!) and Hurley is just always a snuggle bug. Well this time...Katy doesn't seem to care....here is how much Hurley cares....
Yeah...he looks TOTALLY concerned doesn't he?!?!!? Jeesh...dogs!
ps...if you reading this and not following yet, please do so I at least know people are reading! Thanks!

Day 17--Sick day
Unfortunately I've been sick all day. My fever had yet to let up, even with the help of Tylenol. I tend to have a lower than average temp to start with. Today has ranged from 99.8 to this....
Time for more Tylenol!!!!
This temp was at the end of the night...so obviously not going down throughout the day...no work tomorrow and it's looking like no work on Wednesday either. My thoughts are that if kids have to fever free for 24 hours...teachers should have to be too...right? I don't want to get the kiddo's sick and have them pass it to the other 23-32 kids in the class!

Day 16--Santa Monica
Today I drove up to Santa Monica to spend the day with my mom. She was there with my dad but he was busy today so it was a prime time for us to hang out. My picture today is both a picture and a video. Although my video does not do him justice. For those of you not familiar with SM there is a very popular area known as the 3rd Street Promenade...aka 3rd Street. Along this street are restaurants, shops, and the ever popular street performer. We saw many performers today...some were good, some weren't so good. This guy was beyond AMAZING. He was actually performing in the outside 'mall' at the end of 3rd Street (which to me means he's big time!)...he was in the courtyard right outside of Tiffany & Co...not your typical street performer location. I'm not sure, but I think to be inside the shopping center (and not out on the street area) a performer would need some sort of approval to be there. My mom and I were simply in awe. We stood and watched with goosebumps covering our arms. Josh Vietti. He's a 'hip/hop violinist'...I'm not your typical violin fan...in fact I'm not much of a violin fan in general...but OH MY GOODNESS...this was unbelievable. I'm hoping to post the video I took here...as well as a link to one of his more professional YouTubes. Please visit his website and see for yourself...
Okay....so I attempted to upload the video but after 40 minutes of it 'loading' I gave up!
Check out one of him many YouTube videos here There are so many to choose from...but I like this one b/c it shows a little of his personality that I saw today. The little grins throughout it...you can just tell that he loves playing his music and he loves that people enjoy him. He gets so engrossed that at times he seems to forget that others are watching...and then he sees them and shows a cute little grin....
Now...I wonder how old he is and if he's single ?!?! :-)

Day 15 January 15th
Okay...so today is going to have more than one picture. It was a beautiful day and my sister, Michelle, is visiting. We had an amazing breakfast at Swami's Cafe in Encinitas, and then took a 4 mile walk in the sand on Moonlight Beach. After our walk, we met up with Judi and Frank for a few minutes so they could see Michelle and we could see Eli. Here are the pics...
The beautiful ocean...it was a beautiful day
The water was just skimming the sand everywhere...low tide
So pretty
some of the surfers
The water was like glass...and I know everyone hates Seagulls...but I think they're really cute!
